2026 NTUST International Volunteer Team Travels to Nepal: Empowering a Local Orphanage with Supplies, Compassion, and Meaningful Engagement
On July 31,2026, we visited a local orphanage. We brought donated supplies, including daily necessities and materials intended to support the children’s everyday lives. Although the items we provided were modest, we hoped they could offer practical help and let the children know that they were cared for by people from afar.
More importantly, the visit was not only about giving. We spent time talking, playing, and sharing moments with the children. Through their smiles, energy, and warmth, we experienced a strong sense of connection that went beyond language and cultural differences.

A particularly memorable activity was making momo, a traditional Nepali dumpling, together with the children. We gathered around the table, learned how to prepare the filling, wrapped the dumplings by hand, and enjoyed the process as a group. Some of the momo came out beautifully shaped, while others were less perfect—but every one of them was made with laughter and teamwork. Sharing the meal afterward made the experience even more special.
This visit reminded us that USR is not simply about providing assistance. It is about building mutual understanding, respect, and meaningful relationships with communities. Our time at the orphanage showed us that even a simple act—such as preparing food together—can create warmth, friendship, and lasting memories.
Through this Nepal trip, the NTUST USR Project gained valuable insights into global citizenship and community engagement. We hope to continue carrying these experiences forward and contributing to a more caring, connected, and sustainable world.
