On August 5, 2026, a team from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) visited Manang Elementary School in Nepal to educate students on disaster prevention. The program aimed to equip local students with essential safety knowledge through interactive and memorable learning activities.

The class began with a map-based introduction to Taiwan and Nepal. By showing the locations and distance between the two countries, the NTUST team created a friendly connection with the students and introduced the purpose of their visit.

The volunteers then presented several performances that demonstrated key disaster-response skills. The micro-plays covered topics such as how to identify dangerous areas, protecting oneself during an earthquake, and preparing an emergency kit. Using simple scenarios and visual demonstrations helped students better understand what to do in an emergency while making the lesson more enjoyable.

During the performances, students took part in interactive games and challenges. These activities allowed them to apply what they had learned and practice responding to different disaster situations. The hands-on format reinforced important safety concepts and encouraged active participation throughout the workshop.

As the program progressed, the students became increasingly confident and enthusiastic. Many were able to describe the correct emergency procedures and react quickly during the practice activities. At the same time, the NTUST volunteers gained valuable experience in cross-cultural communication, teamwork, teaching, and public speaking.

Overall, the workshop created a meaningful learning experience for everyone involved. The students gained practical knowledge about disaster preparedness, while the volunteers developed a stronger appreciation for community service, international exchange, and collaboration.
